C-Questor’s partner company Carbco has launched The Platinum Carbon Standard for forestry related carbon projects. The Platinum standard is designed to integrate carbon, biodiversity and a range of other environmental services into a single certificate representing the highest possible ethical standards. Platinum Standard projects are required to meet a range of obligatory standards relating to sustainability, biodiversity, transparent accounting, to setting aside carbon as an insurance against accident, and to the requirement to prove that the project produces genuine carbon reductions which would not have occurred under business as usual.

In addition to the obligatory requirements, there are a number of points based flexible criteria from which a score of 80% must be achieved. Flexible criteria relate to provisions for assisting with the sustainable development of local communities, energy from sustainable sources, monitoring, gathering of conservation data, and the management of pollution.

The Platinum Standard far exceeds the requirements of any recognised voluntary carbon market, and aspires to become the standard of choice for all future forestry carbon projects.
