The company believes that in order to achieve commercial success it is important that it takes into account ethical considerations. For example, cutting down rain forest to enable the planting of oil palms might not be seen as an ethical strategy for producing bio-diesel. Similarly, using prime agricultural land for growing bio-ethanol crops for biofuel production rather than as a feedstock for animals or food for human consumption might be seen as unjustified when decertified land or the ocean could be used for such purposes instead. These strategic options are to be considered and advised on by the independent Environmental Ethics Board.

The Environmental Ethics Board provides advice to the Board based upon its terms of reference, which specify that: all activities of C-Questor must ultimately aim to have the effect of counteracting global warming and climate change and C-Questor must seek to be carbon-neutral; C-Questor will endeavour not to undertake any activity which on balance could have an adverse impact on global warming and climate change; and C-Questor must comply with any environmental corporate social responsibility standards or targets that are or become adopted on an extensive basis throughout the industry.

The Environmental Ethics Board is made up from the following individuals:

Guillaume Stewart-Jones – Chairman
Guillaume Stewart-Jones completed his Masters degree at Oxford University, followed by a doctoral degree at Oxford University in biological science and is a principal investigator working on creating and developing HIV vaccines at Oxford University.

Global Warming

Global WarmingThe Earth absorbs radiation from the sun to provide heat and energy for life. Some of the radiation is reflected back into space but clouds and a natural layer of atmospheric gases prevent part of the radiation from escaping. This natural greenhouse effect warms the Earth by as much as 30 °C. Without this effect our planet would be uninhabitable. Read More...
